Every month tens of thousands of children enter the foster care system in America - over 600 to 700 of them are right here in Los Angeles. Forced from their homes by abuse or traumatic events, they often have just the clothes on their backs, or a few treasured possessions tossed in a trash bag to take with them. As they hope to find a safe home these children can be moved many times, often losing the few items they own– they are left with nothing that might provide comfort in a time of crisis.
We have found a way to help.
Hayden's Hope Totes Org is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works passionately to provide duffle bags to foster youth in transition. We have been working directly with the Department of Child and Family Services as well as local agencies across the U.S. since 2015, providing foster youth with a special HelpHHT duffle bags (Hope Totes). We are committed to making sure that each social worker takes the "Hope Tote" with them at the time the child is being removed from the home. This will ensure each child will have their own sturdy personal special HelpHHT duffle bag (Hope Tote) to keep with them throughout this traumatic time. Hope Totes are more than just practical, they’re a tangible way to help a foster youth face an unknown future with dignity and the sense of permanence that comes from having a safe place to hold their own personal belongings.
We are currently in Los Angeles, CA. Kansas City, MO. Phoenix, AZ. and Pittsburgh, PA.
With your help we will be able to provide foster children across the nation with a Hope Tote that will lessen the hardships of being forced from their homes.
